This week assignment we used the tool othermill to create a piece. My final template was the following, couldn’t add the one I wanted because the bit I had wasn’t meant for my first drawing..First we had to measure the dimension of the aluminum plate so we can upload the info in Other plan software. Then we reset the home position and checked the parameters asked by the software.
While milling the first time, I realized that the location of my plate wasn’t set at the origin and forgot to type the offset in the software. I had to stop it and start again with the right measures.
It took around 1 hour and 40 minutes for the machine to finish the piece. After that we sand the corners and both sides of the piece to have a nice shining ending.
Yes, knowing where your material is located is very important. You did the right thing, stop the job and reset the origin.
