Using the CNC the first thing was to design the figure in VectorWorks as it shows in the following picture

After adjusting the file in CAM, we exported it in Gcode to uploaded into the CNC software.

We secure the material with screws, and adjust the zero.

After checking everything is right, we start the CNC.

Because my material wasn’t flat it jumped when the outside contour wasn’t done, damaging the piece a little. For next time I definitely would use double sided tape to secure it.

Atmospheric Sound Lamps (2014)

This is a light/sound installation in collaboration with Yining Shi. The piece consist in paper mache lamps that turn on and generate sound by touch. The sound will evolve according to time that the lamp is touched.

The project was first presented in the ITP 2014 winter show.

atari punk synth (FINAL and Box assignment blog)

For my final work of Intro to fabrication I wanted to used the box I did for another assignment of this class and put a circuit inside to make some noise, an atari punk synth using a NE556.

First thing was to test the circuit, and then solder to a board once it worked.

I was doubting in painting the box in white or put some oil (final choice) to have the wood texture that is really nice.

Here are some pictures of the process….
